Prof Christine Bond

In my role within SAPC I am the co-lead of the PhoCuS group with Sandra Eldridge.
I am Professor of Primary Care at the University of Aberdeen and immediate past Head of the Centre of Academic Primary Care. From 1996-2011 I was seconded 50% FTE to Grampian Health Board as Consultant in Pharmaceutical Public Health.
I was previously Head of Undergraduate General Practice Teaching at the University of Aberdeen, and in that role contributed to and oversaw curriculum development, as well as teaching on safe prescribing. My role is now primarily research focused. My areas of interest are evidence based clinically, cost effective, safe use of medicines (prescribed and ‘OTC’), drug misuse, the community pharmacist-general practitioner interface, and exploring the use of the wider health care team in delivering care. I maintain my links with my base discipline of pharmacy through roles at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, as a Faculty Assessor, member of Pharmacy Research UK Steering Group, and Chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain Expert Advisory Panel for Science. I am Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice.
I graduated from Kings College London University with a BPharm(Hons). I subsequently gained a Masters in Education and a PhD from the University of Aberdeen. I am a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, a Fellow of the Faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
